My professional experience spans over a period of 21 years. My first job was with The Baroda Rayon Corp. Ltd, where I worked for six years, followed by 10 years with Castrol India Ltd in the Information Technology department.
For the past 21 years, I have been working with The Advertising Club, Bombay. Apart from this I have compered many shows (mostly in Hindi) and am a mimicry artist.
Am the Chief Operating Officer of the biggest and easily the busiest Advertising Club in the world. I am the point person for the biggest Advertising event of the country -the Abbys, Effies, EMVIES, MARQUEES, Goafest, AdAsia just to name a few.
I was also been entrusted with the responsibility of the secretariat for the biggest advertising event in Asia -“AdASIA 2003”, which will be held in Jaipur between 10-14 November 2003.
I was an integral part of the administrative set up that mobilised a delegation of 68 people from India to Pattaya in 1999 and 40 people at Taipei in 2002 for the AdAsia Congress. Event coordination, conducting meetings and workshops form a part of the daily activity. I was on the advisory board of NIEM and International Institute of Event Management.
As a compere and mimicry artist, I have accomplished around 1,000 shows in Mumbai, the interiors of Maharashtra and major metros. I have performed with Abhijeet, Mohammed Aziz, Gunjan, Zankar, Babla and the Beatles.
Today I have my own Musical Show called Khumaar running in Mumbai for the last 13 years.
Khumaar has gone PAN India from this year with the first show being held at Baroda. I have also authored a Coffee Table Book on Music. Great names from the world of Advertising, Media, Marketing & Journalism have contributed articles to my book.
I have lectured at various event, colleges and trained over 500 students on events.
Have also been on the panel of WeSchool i.e. Welingkars to interview management students.
I have had long innings at wherever I served. Thus a stint of 6 years at Baroda Rayon Corp. Ltd. and 10 years at Castrol India Ltd.
However an innate fondness and talent for communication and networking drew one towards The Advertising Club. Many from Castrol India Ltd. advised one not to leave the company but I was sure of my abilities and capabilities and surely by the grace of God have done very well for myself, my family and my team at the AdClub Secretariat.
Am in a unique position whereby I have had 16 bosses for the past 21 years. None of them hold a position below a CEO, MD or CMO. It is a great learning to be with them. I experience enrichment in their company. My being a Professional Stage Artist has helped me a great deal. A rich experience of 32 years on stage encouraged one to institute my own Musical Brand Khumaar since the past 13 years. By the grace of God, it is a huge success.
Giving voice overs, mimicry, singing, music, cricket, Stock Exchange, films, partying with friends and I dare say keeping fit by walking and swimming.
Going out with my family for a trip – wife Nandini and son Neeraj (a good mimic), meeting friends and partying with them, singing and rehearsing voices of different filmstars. Eating good food and having a nice drink twice a week. I also love to meet new people and make friends.
In addition, I enjoy doing my job with 100 per cent involvement. I respect my seniors for what they have achieved I am grateful to God for bestowing me with a skill through which I can make people laugh.
Performing at my Musical Nite Khumaar gives me the highest source of satisfaction as also hunting for musical talent and giving them an opportunity to perform.
