What can I say about Bipin Pandit? In my 23 years of advertising, I have met many colorful characters. Passionate, quirky, multifacted, multi-talented human beings who enrich your life with every interaction, and who can douse any moment of melancholy with their perpetual optimism and effervesence. Bipin is one of them! No matter how tense the situation, I’ve never known him to give up, never heard him say ‘no’ and never seen him without a ready smile on his face. He’s been a loyal and committed soldier for the Ad Club Bombay, and quite the backbone of all that the club has accomplished over the years. I’ve often wondered how old he must be. Is he much older than he looks? Is that a wig he’s wearing? I finally gave up trying to guess. The man is ageless, I’m cconvinced. Because, in all the years I’ve known him, he hasn’t aged one bit, and there’s not even one additional grey hair in his mop. More than that, his youthfulness is in his attitude and passion for all the good things in life. He’s a passionate disciple of the Urdu language, spouts shayri in his deep baritone like a connoiseur, compere par excellence, knows his Gulzar from his Saigal, and an avid film buff to top it all. Incredulously, he’s also one of the best mimics I know. Listen to his take on Amol Palekar and you’ll see why he could easily give Johnny Lever a run for his money. In the words of my own hero, Bob Dylan, all I have to say is, “Bipin Pandit, may you stay Forever Young”! God bless!
